Career journey · 2018 → Now

From interaction design to product ecosystem leadership.

My career has progressed from crafting individual experiences to owning product outcomes and shaping systems across consumers, merchants, operations, and emerging AI-enabled directions.

8+ years in product design Yahoo! JAPAN → PayPay Designing within a 75M+ user platform Consumer · Merchant · Operations

How my scope grew

Craft → outcomes → systems

Three chapters that show how the problems I own have expanded.

01 · 2018–2022 Craft at scale

Interaction design, research, information architecture, and mature consumer products.

02 · 2022–2024 Own product outcomes

Merchant growth, long-term product ownership, coupon redemption, and GMV.

03 · 2025–Now Shape end-to-end systems

0→1 products, operations workflows, cross-product direction, and AI-enabled experiences.

Selected moments

The work behind the progression

The strongest evidence is visible by default; each chapter can still be collapsed.

2018–2022 Yahoo! JAPAN · Consumer foundation Learning to design for millions in motion Navigation products built my foundation in interaction design, research, information architecture, and large-scale product constraints.
Context

People use navigation while driving, walking, and making fast decisions. Small interaction failures can become real-world friction.

My move

I worked across interviews, usability testing, data analysis, interaction design, map styling, and design systems on iOS, Android, and tablet.

Evidence

Selected work achieved 77.2% trial-to-paid conversion, reached 9.6% of DAU, contributed to a patent application, and received a division award.

2022 PayPay for Business · Merchant growth Moving from consumer UX into the business behind it Merchant tools expanded my view from a single journey to offer supply, merchant growth, and the business model.
Problem

Merchants needed an easier way to create effective coupons, stamp cards, and subscription services.

My move

I improved creation flows, previews, templates, and content configuration while looking beyond form usability to the quality of offer supply.

Growth

I began connecting design decisions to a broader chain: better creation → more offers → more consumer engagement → more merchant sales.

2023–2024 PayPay Coupon · Product ownership Changing the goal from collecting coupons to using them My scope moved from delivering features to shaping a product area around redemption and the behavior connected to merchant GMV.
Context

Coupon supports traffic, merchant monetization, and consumer engagement across PayPay's O2O business.

My move

With Product, I helped reframe the direction around redemption and focused the experience on condition clarity and relevant discovery.

Evidence

I combined behavioral data with a 600-person survey and eight interviews while designing for a product area serving roughly 30 million users.

2025 Manufacturer Gift Voucher · End-to-end system Turning a new business model into a product people could understand The work connected consumer discovery and redemption with the operational system required to create and manage campaigns.
Problem

Users recognized brands, while the business was structured around manufacturers; product eligibility also spanned thousands of SKUs.

My move

I led concept, research, UX/UI, and testing, bridged teams working across languages, and expanded the design into the Back Office workflow.

Evidence

Three design iterations and an eight-person usability test shaped a coherent Day-1 system across consumer and operations flows.

2026 PayPay × ChatGPT · Product development Exploring how PayPay experiences could work inside an AI conversation An unreleased initiative expanded my work across conversational intent, tool boundaries, secure account handoffs, and responsive AI surfaces.
Problem

Users could express the same need in many ways, while PayPay could control its tools and responses but not the surrounding conversation.

My move

I mapped intent patterns and designed discovery, account linking, consent, claiming, recovery, responsive behavior, and light/dark states.

Growth

I helped the team define a feasible Day-1 scope for an unreleased initiative while establishing reusable patterns for future AI-enabled experiences.

Now O2O offer discovery · Product ecosystem Connecting products that users already see as one experience Coupon, Gift Voucher, Stamp Card, Campaign, and Nearby are separate internally, but all feel like offers to customers.
Problem

Users search across different areas for related benefits while teams evolve inconsistent patterns, hierarchies, and visual treatments.

My move

I contribute to vision, growth strategy, future information architecture, roadmap discussions, and cross-product consistency.

Direction

Create a more coherent offer-discovery ecosystem while connecting user needs, business outcomes, and implementation constraints.

Dates and project details are shown at the level appropriate for public portfolio use. Unreleased work is clearly identified.

How I contribute today

Connecting user needs, business outcomes, and system constraints to help teams decide what to build.

I contribute to product vision, information architecture, roadmap discussions, and cross-product consistency — while staying close to the details that make an experience understandable and usable.
